The GEMS section will be updated as soon as we know when and where we will be holding our 2010 GEMS program for fifth grade girls on the west side of the Big Island. For more information, contact GEMS Chairperson, Cindy Armer at cbarmer@hotmail.com.

Registration is open for GEMS 2009. Download the GEMS Registration Packet. The Registration Packet is a PDF file. You must have a copy of the Adobe Reader to view it. Need a copy of the Adobe Reader? (it's free): get Reader from Adobe.

Registration Forms are due by September 18th.

How do I Register?

  • Decide which six workshops you would most like to attend during the day. You will be attending three different workshops, and we will use your choices to help design your personal schedule. Although GEMS has room for 256 girls, it is first come first served, so REGISTER EARLY!!
  • Fill out the Registration form (front and back). Be sure to list your Workshop choices, your lunch and T-shirt size selection, and have your parent or guardian sign the forms where needed on page 2.
  • By September 18, 2009 - Include the Registration fee of $20 (or check the scholarship box) and mail the completed Registration form to the GEMS P.O. Box in Keauhou. Keep this cover sheet and Workshop List for your own records!
  • Sponsoring another girl - In these difficult financial times, we anticipate that more families than usual will need to request a scholarship for their daughter/ward to attend GEMS. If you are able to sponsor an additional girl, please check the box on the Registration form and send payment along with your regular registration. Your entire contribution will go directly to the scholarship fund.
  • By September 28, 2009 - You will receive a letter confirming that you have been accepted into GEMS. This letter will give you more information, driving directions, and lunch or activity options for parents who decide to stay on site. Only girls may attend the student workshops, but one or two adult workshops designed for parents, teachers, and counselors will be offered too.
  • Make transportation arrangements - Transportation to and from GEMS is the responsibility of the parents/guardians of the attendees, and arrangements may vary from school to school.
  • Registration questions? Call Laurel or Karen at 322-4858 or e-mail gemsreg@aauwkona.org.
